How the Dame Owners Decorated Their New Restaurant, Lord’s Tavern

On January 22, 2018, the owners of the legendary restaurant, Lord’s Tavern opened their brand new restaurant in the Ritz-Carltner building. They started by transforming the restaurant into a multi-level event space with a glass-and-stone “dome” that overlooks the New York Stock Exchange. They also installed an entire wall of mirrors that reflects the light out into their restaurant space creating a unique and elegant effect. “I think the effect is unique but also elegant,” said owner Tom Lord during a press conference before the grand opening. “If you put a glass dome on your home and then painted the walls white with little mirrors on them, it would be very elegant.”

The multi-level venue was the brainchild of Tom Lord, who owned the historic restaurant for over three decades. When his father retired, Lord had a large group of his friends and restaurant neighbors in the Manhattan club scene to put their own ideas to a vote, and Lord’s Tavern was unanimously selected as an ideal venue. With the support of his friends and the New York Stock Exchange, the project was ready to go.

On February 13, Lord’s Tavern held its grand opening with over 250 guests in attendance and many of them were celebrities. Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, and Jimmy Fallon were just a few of the celebrities in attendance. After the grand opening, a parade of celebrities and celebrities’ family members and friends came to Lord’s Tavern for a ribbon cutting and to meet the owners and celebrate the grand opening.

On Saturday February 25, Lord’s Tavern will host its second anniversary celebration, this time celebrating the two-years since its grand opening. This will be an evening of food, drink, and music with DJ music by DJ Andy Zax. The event is free to the public and will begin at 8PM at the New York Stock Exchange, and end at midnight.
